Library to hold annual mini comic con

Orland Park Public Library is hosting its own mini comic con for the fourth year in row on Saturday, July 21 starting at 10 a.m.
Each year OPPL CON, the library’s own comic con includes Artists’ Ally, where artists bring their work to the library to show the community. This year the library has the fortune to host Gene Ha. Ha is a local comic artist and writer. He is best known for his work on books such as Top 10 and Top 10: The Forty-Niners, with Alan Moore and Zander Cannon, for America's Best Comics, the Batman graphic novel Fortunate Son, with Gerard Jones, and The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix. He has also drawn covers for Wizard and Marvel Comics. He has won four Eisner Awards, in 2000, 2001, 2006, and 2008.

Events run through the day, including photo opportunities with The 501st, a Star Wars cospay group. Superhero storytime will be held at 10 a.m. A costume parade will be held at noon, and face painting will start at 1 p.m. All are invited to attend, but patrons are asked to wear family-friendly costumes.
The Orland Park Public Library is located at 14921 Ravinia Avenue in Orland Park, Illinois. Hours are Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
