Library remains open during flooring replacement

Beginning Friday, April 14, 2017 the Library will begin a flooring project in certain areas of the building.
The library will remain open during renovations.
The Orland Park Public Library was awarded monies from the Illinois State Library’s Live and Learn Construction Grant in 2016. At this time the existing carpet located in the lobby, main staircase, as well as the Youth Services main corridor will be replaced with sustainable flooring.
As a winner of the grant, the library was awarded $51,006 for the replacement of worn carpet tiles with a more sustainable flooring.
The current flooring project will continue through June 1, 2017. This project is the beginning of a multi-phase carpet replacement which is expected to last several years.
The Secretary of State Live & Learn Grant for Construction is awarded to a public library (or libraries) that is/are a full member of the Illinois Library System and permits reciprocal borrowing, meets the eligibility for Per Capita Grants, and has been awarded a Per Capita Grant for the three previous fiscal years.
Live & Learn Grants were awarded in the total amount of $701,386 in the fiscal year of 2015. New Construction/Remodeling grants were awarded in five cases. Four grants were accessibility grants, and eight Mini-Grants were awarded. Some of the previous winners include Homer Community Public Library, Ashley Public Library District, and Kewanee Public Library District.
The Orland Park Public Library is located at 14921 Ravinia Avenue in Orland Park, IL 60462. Hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
