Orland Park Public Library hosts The World War I Christmas Miracle
Dec. 12, 2016
Rochelle Pennington will be presenting The World War I Christmas Miracle at Orland Park Public Library on Dec. 21 at 7 p.m.
On Christmas Day in 1914, during the turmoil of the first World War, 100,000 enemy combatants met in the middle to stop the fighting and celebrate together in a one-day truce. That day is still remembered as the most extraordinary event in military history.
Pennington will detail the amazing circumstances surrounding this historic moment of humanity, drawing directly from memoirs of soldiers who were there with recorded diaries, photographs, and letters home. Pennington will also share a collection of World War I artifacts.
The Orland Park Public Library is located at 14921 Ravinia Avenue in Orland Park, IL 60462. Hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, go to orlandparklibrary.org.
